Earlier this year, our friend, Lee Moder passed away at the far-too-young age of 53. A self-described “doodler of things”, Lee was proudly born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He began his career in comic books with a gig at Malibu Comics in 1992. Before long, Lee made himself a staple at DC Comics, with runs as penciller on such titles as Wonder Woman, Legion of Super-Heroes and Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E. It was for the latter title that he co-created the character of Stargirl.
Over his lengthy career, Lee would also work on such titles as Painkiller Jane, Batman: The Last Angel, X-Factor, Highlander, Red Sonja, Kicking Ice and, alongside writer and frequent collaborator Ron Marz, the books Dragon Prince and Shinku.
It is our honor, as the caretakers of his artistic legacy, to partner with the fine folks at Comic Art House to offer Lee’s collection of original art for sale to the public. This first wave of pages will release on July 19th, 2023 and includes art from two of Lee’s best known projects. First, from his sophomore assignment at DC Comics, we offer pages from Lee’s first two issues of Legion of Super-Heroes, numbers 62 and 63. Next, from possibly his best known work, we offer issues 0 and 1 of Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E., including the first-ever appearance of Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl.
Thank you for considering a purchase from this collection. We look forward to bringing you further such offerings in the near future.
